WEEE directive

The WEEE Directive, which entered into force in 2005, regulates the placing on the market, take-back, and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment. It was last amended in 2022.
Background
Waste electrical and electronic equipment contains valuable metals and materials that can be recycled, as well as hazardous substances that can cause environmental damage if not disposed of properly. Controlled collection, recycling, and disposal therefore help conserve resources and protect the environment.
